Most of the promotional material and samples of art for the Working Artists Show in July is in and, I have to say, the art I'm being sent looks fabulously interesting to say the least!

The upcoming WORKING ARTISTS SHOW, organized by some of the artists in the MEIC, it is being held in a gallery space, at the Kennebunk Free Library in Kennebunk, ME.
Show runs July 2nd-July 31st

This show, featuring many well-known published illustrators and designers, was conceived to promote public awareness of an art form usually seen for only a few fleeting moments in print or film. Most consumers are unaware of the background behind producing commercial art: the time, thought, and skill. Advertising art, design, and illustration, once considered less than fine art, have gathered followings, become collectible in reprint form, with some illustration and advertising art becoming part of museum collections.
These " invisible artists" rarely, if ever, show their imaginative illustrations or beautiful design work to the public. With the limitations of reproduction the many tiny pen, pencil, and pastel strokes, brushwork, beautiful color blends on acid-free papers and boards are usually “hidden” away in flat files right after being scanned and printed.
